Steel Challenge

Matches are held on the 2nd Saturday of every month, on the Pistol Range.
Members and the Public are invited. We shoot 4 of the 8 stages each month. You can register and see results for matches on Practiscore. Search for "Payson".
Steel Challenge is an action pistol event in which the competitor shoots 8 different stages of fire from a designated shooting box on the ground. The box defines where the shooter must stand during the engagement of the steel targets. Each stage is comprised of 5 steel targets- a combination of 10" & 12" circles and 18" by 24" rectangles.
At each run the shooter engages the 5 pieces of steel and his or her time to complete is recorded. One pass is called a 'run' and each stage is comprises 5 separate 'strings'. The total times for all 8 stages are calculated together for their 'Overall' time. The person who has the lowest compilation of stage times wins - therefore, who shoots the fastest - WINS !
The unique aspect of this sport is that it may be shot with center fire pistol; it may be shot with a .22 caliber rimfire pistol (ie. Buckmasters, Rugers, SW Model 41); and it may be shot with a .22 caliber rifle or a center fire Pistol Caliber Carbine. The focus of this sport is sight picture and trigger control. Accuracy and economy of motion are the attributes that help the participant excel.
Members and the Public are invited.

BUG {Back Up Gun} Match

Have you ever wanted to shoot your Back-Up or Carry Gun in an IPSC-type match? Here is your opportunity.
Gun requirements are any caliber, .380-.45, with at least 5 shot capacity, as all strings are 5 shots, 3.3 inch maximum barrel length. Glock 42, 43, S&W Shield, Springfield XDS, Ruger LCP, etc. and similar, as well as Snubby Revolvers are welcome. [No Glock 19s and similar… this is a Back Up Gun match].
We follow IDPA rules governing the size of a BUG. {This not an IDPA match} All guns with a capacity of more than 5 rounds will be down loaded to 5, so that we can all compete in the same class. There are no live reloads required during the strings of fire. Bring a holster or a case/bag in which to carry your gun. We will NOT be shooting from the holster. Scoring will be time plus penalties. Members and the Public are invited. You can register for, and see results for matches on Practiscore.com. Search for "Payson".
